Balint met with the ambassador of Hungary in Serbia: The goal is to intensify cooperation
The Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, Academician Bela Balint, met today with the Ambassador of Hungary to the Republic of Serbia, Jozef Magyar, and on that occasion expressed his satisfaction with the existing cooperation with this country. Balint expressed his desire that it be further intensified in the future.
The meeting discussed existing cooperation between universities and scientific research institutes, as well as potential partnerships within the ELI-ALPS laser research center, the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation announced.
There was also talk about cooperation between the University of Debrecen, Semmelweis University and appropriate partner institutions in Serbia.
Balint and Magyar discussed the possibilities for improving mobility projects through Hungary’s Panonia program, with a focus on student exchange programs for doctoral studies.
The ambassador congratulated Minister Balint on his appointment and wished him a successful continuation of his work in his mandate, and especially emphasized the importance of close and complex cooperation between Serbia and Hungary, stressing the importance of its further development.
The Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of Serbia and the Ministry of Culture and Innovation of Hungary was signed in 2024.
That document envisages the establishment of a Joint Program for the financing of innovations (in the amount of 2 million euros, one million from each side) within three key areas: digital innovation, health and biotechnology, as well as the green transition.
